They are found in various applications around us. For instance, they are used in gas grills, in home heating furnaces, in medical equipment to regulate oxygen, to regulate compressed air in automation systems, in engines to regulate fuel etc. Now you will have a clear demonstration that there are various applications for these electronic pressure regulators. In all of them, they perform the same functionality. They reduce the inlet pressure and maintain this pressure in the system.

    Materials used in Pressure Regulators:

Nowadays various materials are available in the market to bear different types of fluids and the environment. Mostly, the materials that are used for digital pressure regulators include Plastic, Brass and Aluminium. Different grades of stainless steel (such as 303, 304, and 316) are also available. The spring used inside the regulator is made of music wire or stainless steel.

Brass is economical and is good for common applications. Aluminium should be used when you are considering the weight. When low cost is your first priority then you should consider using plastic. Stainless steel should be used when the fluid that has to pass through it is corrosive and also has to be used in an environment where the chances of getting corrosive are high.

General Working of a Digital Air pressure Regulator:

These regulators use valves to control the pressure in hydraulic and pneumatic systems. There are basically two main types of proportional pressure regulators, one regulates the upstream known as back-pressure regulators and the other regulates downstream pressure and are known as pressure reducing regulators. The pressure is contained inside the systems where fluid flows from one point to the other point through the pipes. A regulator adjusts the pressure from the place where it is connected to the system.

Using an automated precision system with an electronic air regulator having the sensing element in the feedback loop is very simple. The feedback is the information of the fluctuations occurring in the inlet pressure. Feedback is obtained by using a spring loaded or pressure controlled diaphragm, piston or bellows. These are the types of sensing elements of digital air pressure regulators.

This information helps to reduce the pressure and maintain a constant value by telling the controller what changes should be made in the orifice of the pipe to decrease the pressure in the system. It adjusts the size of the orifice so that constant pressure can flow from the electronic pressure regulator valve.

Applications of Digital air Pressure Regulators:

There is a long array of applications for pressure regulators. They are used to provide closed loop pressure control.

    Some common applications are:

    • Control pressurized air and inert gases.
    • For operating medical Applications.
    • Leakage Testing.
    • Packaging.

    Final Words:

There are various digital air pressure regulators available in the market but you should choose the one according to your need, operational environment, and type of fluid that will pass through it.
